2024 ASPIRE DESIGN AWARDS

INTENT
The AIA Aspire States have a long-standing tradition of recognizing a broad range of architecture activity that exemplifies the values of the Aspire Conference and improves the quality of the built environment in the communities we serve. The Aspire Design Awards program seeks to highlight the diverse range of projects by architects in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The AIA believes that awards programs should be carefully structured so that the selection and recognition of honorees elevates the general quality of architectural practice, establishes a standard of excellence against general quality of architectural practice, establishes a standard of excellence against which all architects can measure performance, and informs the public of the importance of design.

THE PALADIN FOR SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE (for Professional Design Awards only)
2024 marks the inaugural year of The ASPIRE Paladin for Sustainable Architecture. The Paladin seeks to honor architectural designs that demonstrate exceptional commitment and innovation in advancing sustainability. The winning submission will be chosen from among all ASPIRE entries, and will be evaluated based on six criteria from the AIA Framework for Design Excellence: Design for Well-being, Ecosystems, Economy, Water, Energy and Resources.

In a world facing mounting environmental challenges, architects have a crucial role to play in creating built environments that are environmentally responsible, socially equitable, and profitable.  With this prestigious award, applicants are encouraged to showcase their most innovative and impactful sustainable architectural achievements.
